Short Movie

Cairngorm Mountain Railway

This is a very short (15 secs) movie of the start of the downward journey on the funicular railway at Cairngorm. The railway provoked a storm of protest on its planning and opening. The reasons for this were varied but the major concern was that this funicular railway runs for two kilometers through the Cairngorm ski area. In doing so it climbs 460m to the Ptarmigan top station, 150m below the summit of the mountain and with this it was felt would damage a major eco-system. I am unable to comment on this and merely attach this short clip to show the visitor to the area what to expect

The purpose of this movie is simply to let the user see the journey (or part anyway).
