Meat with Green Beans

This is a Lebanese-style curry that goes perfectly well with rice. Beans are a great source of minerals and vitamins, and they are very diet-friendly.

For US to UK equivalents see this rough guide

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 1 lbs lamb or beef cut into cubes
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 cup white beans
  • 1 cup green beans
  • 1 cup mashed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 cup water

Method:

Fry the onions till they are golden brown and add the meat. Continue cooking till the meat is almost done but not too brown.

Add salt, pepper to taste, tomato paste and tomatoes. Mix well and fry for another 4-5 min.

Add the vegetable stock to the pan and simmer the meat in the stock until it's completely cooked.

Add beans and chopped parsley. The dish is ready when the water is fully absorbed.

Serve hot with rice or pita bread.

As with all recipes which involve cooking and baking a sensible approach must be taken especially when dealing with warm or hot (temperature) ingredients. If you are unable to take due care, please do not attempt to make any of these recipes. All recipes are tried at your own risk.
