Russian Food and Drink Ideas
A tasty vegetable beef soup recipe, made with meaty beef chunks, pickles and vegetables. Very hearty and filling!

- 1 kg beef, cubed
- 1/2 kg cubed ham
- 1 beef stock cube
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 3 onions
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 pickles
- 3 tomatoes
- 1/4 kg mushrooms, sliced
- 1/2 cup olives, pitted
In a large pan combine meat and a stock cube. Add water, salt and pepper to taste. On low heat cook the meat until it becomes soft and tender.
In a pan add butter and fry the onions till golden brown. Cut the pickles in thin slices. Chop the tomatoes. Add the pickles and tomatoes to the onions and fry for 3-4 min.
Combine the mixture with the meat and stock and cook for 5 mins.
Stir thoroughly and serve hot in soup bowls. Garnish with olives, fresh black pepper, or soya sauce if desired.
