Easy Fish Pie Recipe
This is a simple fish pie recipe. To enjoy it at its best you should serve it simply, along with some vegetables or even on its own.
Ingredients for Fish Pie
1lb haddock (or other white fish)
3/4 pint full cream milk or semi skimmed
1&1/2 lbs potatoes
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Seasoning (Salt & Pepper)
Preheat the oven to 350F. Remove any bones or skin from the fish. place in an ovenproof dish along with the milk. Cook for approx. 20 minutes. At the same time, boil the potatoes in salted water and mash along with the knob of butter and season according to taste.
Drain the cooked fish but keep the liquid. Flake the fish. In a pan, melt the knob of butter adding the flour and stir. Then stir in the liquid and whisk (over a LOW heat) until thickened. Add the fish and the chopped parsley and season again if required.
Place the mixture in a baking dish and cover with a layer of mashed potato. Place this under a hot grill after "dotting" with butter. Remove and serve when golden brown.
